“Dear Muscovites and guests to our capital! The Moscow metro is a form of transportation which involves a heightened level of danger!”

These words, they greeted commuters at the start of every day in Moscow, but that was 20 years ago, before the bombs fell. I have never seen the world the old ones say existed before the war, I have lived underground all my life. The subway, known as the Moscow Metro, is a cruel mother only the strongest and luckiest survive life underground. The city above is irradiated; the few who dare go out there have heavy protection from the radiation and even more heavy weapons, to combat the horrors that came to existence after the war. And all of this for some measly piece of rations or something to drink, that the long gone inhabitants of the dead city stashed for themselves. We call the people who dare cross the wasteland, Stalkers.

But the rest of us you ask? We continue our lives underground, squatting to survive, fighting each other and the abominations from the top, killing to survive and to protect the ones we love. You see, when the bombs fell, there was this thing called the Central Metro Authority, the remnants of the previous elite, having the task to keep us together to repopulate the topside and restore civilization. It didn’t last long… years passed, we forgot what lead us to the subway, people started separating into groups and the Metro stations of Moscow shattered into a patchwork of independent states, forming confederations and alliances, even fighting wars, and trading, among other things. We are again, doing the same mistakes our forefathers did, and we can’t even see it.

With money becoming difficult to locate and maintain, it lost all purpose. In time, the inhabitants of the Subway switched to using 5.45x39mm cartridges, they became the new morbid currency in the post-apocalyptic world because the technology to manufacture them had been mostly lost and any counterfeiting attempts were severely limited as a result. Ironic isn’t it, each bullet is somebody's life. A hundred grams of tea costs five lives, a sausage - mere trifle fifteen, a nice leather jacket on sale - only two hundred and fifty. Market station daily income could well be more than the number of all surviving humans in the Metro.

Welcome to the newest version of the Metro 2033 game. Here are some pointers to direct you in your gaming for the coming adventure.
Choosing a faction:
To get to starting the game, you have to first choose a faction. You are going to find the description of each and every faction of the universe in Homer's Shack. Now, attention! not all of these factions are playable, the list of playable factions is as it follows:
SpoilerShow
Polis
Rangers
Hanseatic League
Red Line
Reich
Revolutionaries
Ulitsa 1905 Confederation
Baumansky Alliance
Sevastopolskaya Empire
Venice
Pervomay Republic

If you don't like any of the options listed above, you can play as part of a faction. You just have to run it by me first. For example, Snacks has dibbed the character "Alney Fantom", a Red Line special forces operative. Players can be groups of Stalkers, Special forces operatives attached to any of the above factions, just some random traders and whatever they choose within that, but I will ideally want the big three populated first (Hansa, Red Line, Reich) before claiming anything else.
Faction Forums:
Once you have claimed your faction, you will have access to a special sub-forum created for that faction, where you will have a list of stations, a list of military units at your disposal and a briefing of your faction. You will from that point forward play out every turn under that thread, giving orders and receiving specialized info that only you can see. Special players will either be debriefed via PMs if there is something specifically for them, or have access to those topics depending on their position.
Game:
Once we have assigned everything, we will begin the game. Each turn will be posted in the News and Rumors thread obviously, where I will post whatever is whispered in the tunnels. Each of you can post independently of that in the Train which will function the same way as the Red Planet Forums did back in Land of Blood and Silver. Here, you can post news-exerts, propaganda and small snippets of information. I will also post from time to time describing big on-going events which unfold before the regular turn itself.

Note: This is based on the events at the start of Metro Last Light (the novel Metro 2035), however most of the things from the game are changed to avoid meta-gaming. The Changes are subtle, but enough to avoid players who have played the game to know what happens next.

Edit: In regards to D6, most of you know it exists, but not how to get there, you also know that the Rangers have it and Polis knows how to enter. Y'all will have to find a way to get there.
